Recently, in our morning #Edchat discussion, we discussed how to prevent social media burn-out. Those who participated in the discussion offered several tips on time management and skills to teach students involving social media. Click on the mindmapping link to view some of my favorite tweets from the discussion. You can make this mindmap smaller or larger and move it around.
Which Social Media Tools Should we Use?
During the discussion we also discussed which social media tools to use with students and to recommend to teachers for developing their Personal Learning Network (PLN). Click on the mindmapping link to add to your favorite tools to the list and include a helpful link that describes best practices with that social media tool.
Special thanks to the educators who participated in the discussion and were featured in this post! Add them to your PLN by using Russel Tarr‘s mass Twitter tool. Just copy and paste this list!

Hi ya Shelly, great post!
One of my students shared a link with me of different platforms – it’s a really great social media map and all the sites listed are also linked.
Perhaps your readers/teacher trainers will also find it useful:
Social Media Map
Take care,
Karenne
Karenne,
Thanks for sharing this tool! I will add it to the list!
Hi Shelly,
Sorry to say, but these mindmaps are virtually impossible to read.
May I ask you for a favor? Could you summarise the discussions for us, the readers of your post?
I appreciate that you link me to the complete discussion, but it would also be great to get a brief and crisp summary of the main thoughts on what to do to avoid social media burn-out so that I, the reader can avoid the burn-out, re-reading all the discussions going on about it.
Appreciating your high level of engagement with social media.
Rgds Heike
Heike,
Thank you so much for your honesty. I’m sure there are others who feel the same and I just noticed in my reader that the map doesn’t come out. I will definitely do this in the future when using the mindmap!
Great post Shelly!
This is the first time I’ve seen the mind42.com mindmaps. They are definitely nifty. I’m having trouble trying to add to it though.
I just like to add one site I find rather handy for aggregating all my social media outlets:
http://ping.fm
This site pretty much lets you post to several places simultaneously. It definitely comes in handy if you want to post a broadcast message to all your outlets. Look forward to your #edchat comments tomorrow!
Neal
Neal,
Thank you for adding this link. I will added to the list!
